Going All The Way Grey!
Hey my beauties!!! I am SO excited to talk about this topic! Over the past few years I’ve seen more and more women embrace their natural grey hair. Yes, you read that correctly, more women are wanting to let go of their 6-8 week root touchups and opting to match their colored ends with their natural grey hair. There are many that believe that this makes them look older or means that they’re “letting themselves go”. Neither of these are true and for most of the women I’ve seen online they tend to look younger and happier.
Now, I can’t lie to you all because online makes this process look so easy in a 30-90 second reel, this process is long and expensive. To get to your desired results it can take anywhere between 8-13 hours and costing anywhere between $1000-$3000+ depending on the stylist. Everyone isn’t a candidate for this service, doing a consultation and a strand test is a must for this type of service. More often than not there will be some cutting involved as some ends of the hair won’t make the multiple lifting processes needed to get the desired result. I see this as an added bonus as I am of the opinion that grey hair is in need of a bad ass cut to go with it! It’s doesn’t necessarily mean a short cut, sometimes it could be as simple as some beautifully placed layers. This process normally comes with several treatments and toners to enhance your grey tones so they won’t look dull and lifeless.
This process is NOT a one and done service. There will be a “touch up” service needed to maintain the colored ends. Unlike the root touch up service this has an expiration date as you’re refreshing the ends only. Once the colored ends are grown out/cut out over time you can comfortably enjoy and play with your natural grey hair, or as I call them, wisdom-lights! In a world where more and more people are intentionally coloring their hair grey for the fun and fashion of it all, it’s good to know you’re with the trend. I know everyone isn’t ready for this process and that’s okay, I just love being able to give multiple options so you know what’s possible. Sound off in the comments, are you willing to go grey? Until next time…SMOOCHES!!!
