Ozempic Hair!!!
Hey my beauties! I have seen quite a few clients and friends start to take Ozempic (or other products like it), as a result I have seen many go through changes with their hair. Let me back this train up a little before we all fall of the rails a bit. Your hair is directly linked to your immune system, blood flow and hormones. When one or more of these three are affected your hair can start to shed. So how does segmaglutide (the key ingredient in Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjero and such) trigger hair loss. Well the short answer is they don’t…well not really.
Follow me down this rabbit whole a bit. When you have weight fluctuations, plus or minus 10 pounds or more a month, it can trigger stress on the body which can lead to hormone shifts and vitamin deficiencies. The medication serves as an appetite suppressant (for lack of a better word) and your body isn’t taking in much nutrients. When you lack vitamins in your body, the blood doesn’t have enough nutirents to circulate to your hair’s follicles, a result is you can experience shedding.
BEFORE YOU PANIC, something like this can happen when you crash diet, have weight loss surgery, eatting disorders, and yes, taking appetite suppressant suppliments/medications. So wouldn’t be quick to say the medication Ozempic or others like it is the direct cause of hair shedding/hair loss. I would, however, give certain questions for you to ask your doctor to help curb a chain reaction that can lead to excessive hair shedding. The first thing I would suggest is to ask if there are specific vitamins that you can take to help with managing hair loss as you reach towards your weight loss goals. Of course I would suggest asking about Nutrifol as I have had great success with it and I’m a retailer of these vitamins so shameless plug…go to the “Shop” page on this site to purchase your bottles of vitamins. Secondly, I would suggest you ask for a recommended workout regimen that can help regulate blood flow and decrease added stress on the body. Finally, and most importantly, keep up with your hair regimen of consisent treatments, cuts and a healthy nightly maintenance. Be sure to ask your beauty professional what nightly maintanence is best for your hair and lifestyle.
I hope this helps and of course be sure to sound off in the comments! Share this with any beauty you think may benefit from this information. Until next time…SMOOCHES!!!
