My First Major Brand Deal
Hey my beauties! This past weekend I worked at the World Natural Hair Show! My good friend and hair partner in crime, Adrienne Leak, hired me to work with Procter & Gamble. EEEKKKKK SO exciting!!! For the event, three other brilliant stylist and I did consultations and talked about how the products would work for each customer that signed in at the front of the booth.
Let’s talk about the booth for a hot sec. We had crisp plush jet black carpet. Stylist stations, again all black, decorated with vanity mirrors with makeup lighting. Black velvet cushion seating for customers to sit in. Flatscreen tv’s that displayed ads about not only the products sold but also P&G’s scholarships for women in STEM programs! I mean it was all things fancy and highend. We wore the industry standard uniform of all black. Customers were greeted cheerfully by the a few ladies with gift bags and signing in on the mounted ipad for the hair consultations. Yup…they were booking actual appointments for us!
This was my first time doing a brand deal fo this magnitude. Adrienne has asked me for years to work with her on brand deals and for whatever reason I never did. I must confess that my anxiety approaching this event made me realize why I’ve never done it before. We were hired to show natural curly hair styling no matter the hair type. This is definitely NOT my circle of expertise. I had one week to learn four product lines and how to style natural curly hair of all types. Needless to say it was a very intense week. All in all it was a wonderful experience and something I will surely put on the list of coolest things to happen in my career! I’ll need an entire day to recover from the overall experience but thankful nonetheless. Until next time…SMOOCHES!!!!
